Since d-u today I get usb error messages on boot and booting takes quite some time (5 minutes?). The error messages begin directly after the grub menu closes and "Loading, please wait..." appears. It's something about
Code: [Select]
[16.690029] usb 2-6: device descriptor read/64, error -110 and this stands on the screen for such a long time that I pressed the reset button the first time because I thought it was completely frozen. Some similar messages with other numbers follow after a while throughout the boot process. Eventually the screen blanks for some other five minutes (?) and I cannot even switch to a console, before finally the login screen appears.

I don't think it is the new linux-image-3.14-1.towo-siduction-amd64 because with the former version which ran perfect it does now happen too.

It seems that it has to do with the integrated usb hub of my monitor. When I unplug the usb cable before booting everything is ok. It doesn't matter if there a devices plugged into that hub or if it is empty, as long as it is attached to the machine there are these error messages and the very slow booting. But the hub is ok because other distributions installed on that machine don't have problems with it.

When I attach the monitor's usb cable after booting "tail -f /var/log/messages" gives me nothing peculiar AFAIK:

Apr 22 19:22:41 panther mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 3 was not an MTP device

Might it be the updated packages libmtp-common, libmtp-runtime und libmtp9:amd64? I just presume because the last message is about mtp-probe...

Before the error appeared I purged hal ("vox now" video stream doesn't work anymore even with hal installed), kdm (lightdm was installed some time before), btrfs-tools, reiserfsprogs and xfsprogs because I don't use any such devices. Then I did the d-u in init3. List of updated packages: http://pastebin.com/UF1Gux1R

Hi spacepenguin,

I do not have such a problem on 3.14.1, although I d-u'ed today. Besides I do not have such a hub.
