I've running razorqt firestarter on an old HP Pavilion. I set up the environment, that the razorqt desktop isn't used but flubox instead. Sor far, safe some finetuning all is fine. But i notice, i do not have any effective powermanagement on this machine. First, what inx -F says about the machine (as far as needed):

Now, when xscreensaver is active it locks correctly the screen but it does not go any further (i.e. to put the machine in suspend or hibernate although i set that in the xscreensaver prefs). The same is true for ptbatterysystemtray. That application is able to execute halt and reboot but nothing else.
This Pavilion has a "hard key" for suspend: FN+F5 which works. But i'm clueless how to arrive there from within the linux setup (this experience is identical to what i experience on a way way more modern samsung 535uc, which is also amd64 type and does not have no powermanagement at all). On the samsung i tried with the amd catalyst (fglrx) driver. That gave me powermanagement control but i lost console access, CMD-ALT F1 thru F6 (and F7 to turn back) . . .
Now, my question to you more experienced people: Could i try the fglrx driver for this HP Pavilion? As far as i can see, the graphics are fine, but . . . may be the fglrx would improve the control over powermanagement (or are there other tricks i could try?).
