I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask my question but i hope so ... (I asked this question also in the german section but didn't get any answer up now, so sorry for this xposting, in some way . . .
)
Since i didn't know about the siduction noX distribution (and very likely i'd have been unable to build a desktop environment from sratch), i started from installing a firestarter razor-qt and then transformed it to a fluxbox based environment on a nearly 10 years old HP Pavilion. I followed pretty much the #! setup (i've on a more modern laptop and i'm happy with save that gtk3 lately creates a lot of trouble). So, i was interested too to see if and how a qt environment would perform better and smoother. Essentially, i've to say on this old machine the setup feels pretty snappy and it's not eating much memory on boot.
My environment, grossomodo, now, looks like this:
displaymanager: slim
windowmanager: fluxbox
desktop: fluxbox
panel: fluxbox
tasks: conky
networkmanager: ceni
filemanager: qtfm (waiting eagerly for pcmanfm-qt Wink )
sound/volume:qasmixer
password: keepassx
I'd like to put in good order my system and to throw away all things related to the razorqt desktop, i won't need anymore. Just guessing i'd say: lightdm, wbar (fluxbox rightclick menu is pretty much sufficient for me
), ptbatterysystemtray. But what else? Since i had - and still have, in some way - powermanagement problems (seems to be a systematical problem with all kernels > 3.2 and amd64) i played around with razorqt-power and i realized that without, there is no pm at all; so, that's needed for example).
Thanks a lot in advance for any help or suggestion!
PS. Desktop looks like this:
