Title: English How-to's?
Post by: PrimeSuspect on 2012/01/02, 08:14:26
I've just run a live session and managed to configure my two connections which is a good start.  However, my experience with adding things to Linux begins and ends with either Software Centre or Synaptic. :) Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place but the English section of the wiki seems a little empty? Please can someone point me in the right direction for how to:

Update my system after completing a full install (adding repos etc)
Install additional software e.g. Thunderbird

Many thanks.

you are right, the wiki is in this case the wrong place. You should look at the manual. unfortunately its not online yet, but there should be an icon on your desktop.

Thanks. I'll load the live CD again later and take a look.

With siduction being so new there's bound to be some rough edges...in time, the wiki will be polished enough and translated into English and other languages so lets give the team time :)

the wiki will not be translated by us, as a wiki is a user2user ressource.

Is there any structure implemented for the wiki to separate English from German to start process of translation?
Are there any intentions to get rid of some of the aptosid stuff?

As far as i can tell, there has been no decision on the future of the wiki at all so far, other than its integration into the new site.

It should not be too difficult to put the manual immediately here.
It will help a lot.
