This will probably reveal my ignorance, but I don't understand -- I have python-kde4 installed:

Code: [Select]
root@imerabox:/home/don# apt-cache policy python-kde4
python-kde4:
  Installed: 4:4.9.5-0r1
  Candidate: 4:4.9.5-0r1
  Version table:
 *** 4:4.9.5-0r1 0
        500 http://packages.siduction.org/kdenext/ unstable/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     4:4.8.4-1 0
        500 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable/main amd64 Packages
        500 http://http.debian.net/debian/ unstable/main amd64 Packages

I see that it has a conflict with plasma-scriptengine-python:

Code: [Select]
root@imerabox:/home/don# apt-cache depends python-kde4
python-kde4
  Depends: kde-runtime
.
.
.
.
  Depends: <sip>
  Depends: python-sip
  Suggests: libpython2.6
  Breaks: plasma-scriptengine-python
  Breaks: <plasma>
  Breaks: python-qt4
  Breaks: python-qt4:i386
  Conflicts: python-kde4:i386

So how can I have no problem with plasma-scriptengine-python?

Code: [Select]
root@imerabox:/home/don# apt-cache policy plasma-scriptengine-python
plasma-scriptengine-python:
  Installed: 4:4.9.5-0r5
  Candidate: 4:4.9.5-0r5
  Version table:
 *** 4:4.9.5-0r5 0
        500 http://packages.siduction.org/kdenext/ unstable/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     4:4.8.4-6 0
        500 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable/main amd64 Packages
        500 http://http.debian.net/debian/ unstable/main amd64 Packages

This is weird, another box I have with identical sources being the exception of the nvidia driver (304.84-1) as to this one,my main, running experimental nvidia driver (313.18)

This is my d-u on the other box

Code: [Select]
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  linux-headers-3.8-3.towo-siduction-amd64 linux-image-3.8-3.towo-siduction-amd64
The following packages will be upgraded:
  dpkg dpkg-dev file fll-iso2usb gawk libdpkg-perl libgl1-nvidia-alternatives libgl1-nvidia-glx
  libglx-nvidia-alternatives libicu48 libmagic1 libnss3 libv4l-0 libv4lconvert0 libxvmcnvidia1
  libzbar0 linux-headers-siduction-amd64 linux-image-siduction-amd64 nvidia-alternative
  nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-kernel-source nvidia-vdpau-driver
  xserver-xorg-video-nvidia
24 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 67.3 MB of archives.
After this operation, 131 MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?

I am thinking maybe the driver from experimental but I can't test till later tonight when I get home from work.

My python-kde4 stuff on my main box as you posted above

This is probably the biggest problem (not really a problem though) that I have had since mandrake 6 (venus, my first nix install) in linux, it kind of makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I was a huge mandrake fan up to mandrake 9.0 (dolphin) and switched to debian 3.0 (woody) fulltime.
Free speech isn't just fucking saying what you want to say, it's also hearing what you don't want to fucking hear

I either give too many fucks or no fucks at all, it's like I cannot find a middle ground for a moderate fuck distribution, it's like what the fuck

I am running towo's nvidia-glx 313.26 -- maybe you should give it a try.
