[solved] For cards needing nvidia-legacy-340xx-*: beware of current d-u

I have one of those nvidia cards which should *not* update to 346.59 . But the current update would install 346.59-1.siduction.1 .

# apt-cache policy nvidia-driver
nvidia-driver:
  Installiert:           340.76-1.siduction.1
  Installationskandidat: 346.59-1.siduction.1
  Versionstabelle:
     346.59-1.siduction.1 0

So it seems we now need to hold our nvidia packages until there are nvidia-legacy-340xx-* packages.

Or is there anything else we could or should do?

hello micha,

you are right, you need the legacy package. Why didn't you install it?
Please don't expect that apt will decide which driver to use.
apt will never upgrade from the "nvidia-driver" package to the  nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver package.
