@absolut: sure it is now - but not for the old isos - we've learned that the hard way 8)

I never managed to remember this  :o
To answer the most asked question with every new ISO:
User: siducer
Pass: live

Why dont you use something like
Code: [Select]
user: sid
pw: sid
or
Code: [Select]
user: siduction
pw: siduction

"siducer" is never used anywhere else, so it is not intuitive.

user/pw combination should be so easy and intuitive as possible. Because the situation of using a live-CD is usually "exciting" somehow, be it for a new installation or some emergency (at least for me). Therefore I dont want to spend any extra time for figuring out this combination.

is this info not also promitently provided in grub on live boot?  ;)
I never saw this.

I would even consider painting this combination on the background of the desktop,
or placing a text file, named "username-and-password.txt" on the desktop,
to never again giving anybody an excuse to not knowing the password  8)

regards, c

Today I test newest LXQT Live ISO

It was asked for the root PW. The PW "live" didn't work.

In the German manual I can not find, which PW is to use.
In the Chapter Gparted only is written

Quote
After clicking on the starter, a dialog opens to request the root password.

It would be fine, when it ist easy to find out which Passwords are needed.

»siducer« and »live« work on the live session and always have. There is no other passwords for the live session.

No. I am not stupid!
It seems the PW was not set. I made some Fotos, which I can send you. If this is necessary.
But may be you believe me.
I had to do
Code: [Select]
root@siduction:/home/siducer# passwd
Geben Sie ein neues Passwort ein:
Geben Sie das neue Passwort erneut ein:
passwd: Passwort erfolgreich geändert
root@siduction:/home/siducer#

Now it works ;)

By the way. when I mark the lines an chose the button <>, after send the post, there are code /code in every line in stead of first and last line.

Was mache ich da falsch?

Code: [Select]
hugin@Devil:/tmp$ passwd
Ändern des Passworts für hugin.
Geben Sie das aktuelle Passwort ein:
Geben Sie ein neues Passwort ein:
Geben Sie das neue Passwort erneut ein:
Sie müssen ein längeres Passwort auswählen.
Geben Sie ein neues Passwort ein:
Geben Sie das neue Passwort erneut ein:
#passwd: Passwort erfolgreich geändert
hugin@Devil:/tmp$

https://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=8827.msg70264#msg70264

»siducer« and »live« work on the live session and always have. There is no other passwords for the live session.
Actually, try to get KParted or any software that needs root password while using the live session, it will say password is incorrect

I installed from the LXQt live CD within the last 10 days.

Open the terminal, and enter "su". There is no password requested, and you are now root. Next, run the partition editor from the command line. Now you can partition your hdd or ssd. After you do that, get out of the terminal and choose "install" from the desktop.

What dibl states is true. su to root(no password required) and enter the application name. However if you access an application via the menu that requires privileges it will fail.

And that is exactly the point, there should be no need to go to terminal and type "su" to launch an application on a live session if the media and documentation say the only password you need is "live"
