[info] GnuPG 2.1 Transition
« on: 2016/08/14, 15:41:50 »
Hello,

debian unstable has migrated to the "modern" 2.1 branch of gnupg.

The "classic" 1.4 branch is now packaged in gnupg1.
The "stable" 2.0 branch, which has been in gnupg2, is gone.
The gnupg2 package now is a transitional package and depends on gnupg.

gnupg depends on gnupg-agent (which serves all password requests)
and it recommends gnupg-l10n for localization.
siduction doesn't install this recommends by default, but users hardly do interact with gnupg.

So with latest dist-upgrade this is the default situation for existing installs:
dpkg -l | awk '/ gnupg/'
ii  gnupg          2.1.14-5   amd64   GNU privacy guard - a free PGP replacement
ii  gnupg-agent    2.1.14-5   amd64   GNU privacy guard - cryptographic agent
ii  gnupg2         2.1.14-5   all     GNU privacy guard - a free PGP replacement (dummy transitional package)

Feel free to add gnupg-l10n, if you want localized messages from gnupg.

greetings
musca
