With version 79.0.3945.79-1 Chromium seems to randomly crash. Bug report: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=945920

Same here: Version: 79.0.3945.79-1
-
same here as well

A fix has been suggested at the bug report: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=945920#103
I haven't tested it yet though.
I downgraded it using https://snapshot.debian.org/package/chromium/78.0.3904.108-1/#chromium_78.0.3904.108-1 and put a hold on chromium. But, now that the bug has been identified, it will probably be fixed in the repos soon.
This one took a long time!

Update: I tried the fix and it did not work for me...

downgraded and put hold on Chromium. Ir has been running for over an hour and has been stable,

Here again, the fix has no noticeable positive effect.

If you use SRWare Iron (https://srware-iron-iron-browser.en.softonic.com/?utm_medium=paid&utm_source=pikoya&utm_campaign=pikoya_search_google_ads_us_partner&utm_content=us&utm_term=all) you always have a version of Chrome that is not going to crash. Currently I have Ver. 69.0.3600.0, with no problems.

FWIW: There is now a second fix in the bug thread. That one fixed it for me.
I will hold marking as fixed until the new package comes out.

There's a bug in the newest Wine version that has existed for almost as long as the Chromium bug.

Thank you for the tip, dibl. There's also Ungoogled Chromium (https://github.com/Eloston/ungoogled-chromium). However all of the contributed packages are contributed by "anyone willing to build and submit them." Therefore, you have to be willing to trust whomever built and submitted the package(s). Otherwise, you'll have to build from source yourself.

Newest version seems to fix the problem. (It seems I cannot edit the OP to mark it as fixed, for some reason...)
