 [Solved] Repeated kernel panics

I apologize. It is 64 bit. Hardware is Gigabyte Z68A-D3-B3, Intel i5-2500 (I think it is 2500k), ATI HD6770 1 GB running open source driver, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SATA III drive.

You use LAN or Wireless?

I usually use LAN, but I have been having trouble with the download speed dropping to very low speeds (less than 1 kb/sec). The kernel panics have been occurring when I disconnect the wired connection and try the wireless connection in hope of maintaining faster downloads,

I have also compiled and installed r8168 ethernet card driver trying to get better wired speeds. The speeds start off well, but then slow to about 2 kb/sec, then even much slower. This does not occur with Ubuntu, Sabayon, or Arch. I think the problem is with the repositories, but I am not sure.
