Title: Elan1203 touchpad not currently supported (common in Asus laptops)
Post by: Hellmark on 2021/10/01, 16:54:56
So, right now, it appears that the Elantech 1203 touchpad is not supported due to a kernel bug. As it stands for me, nothing pops up in dmesg, xinput, or libinput about it, but if you look at the /sys directory you can find /sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-ELAN1203:00/

Also, I have found this kernel bug that shows a recent patch, but as far as I can tell it hasn't been accepted into mainline yet.

Everything else for the laptop works right out of the box, so sucks that this currently doesn't.

Which kernel version you have tested? At least the recent 5.14.9 can't apllied, because the code is always there.

I went from stock, to 5.14.8, and yesterday switched up again. Current uname output

5.14.9-1-siduction-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT siduction 5.14-9 (2021-09-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux
