Title: In a VM, btrfs causing issues, although it's not being used
Post by: WetGeek on 2023/03/15, 19:22:51
On a laptop that isn't based on Siduction, I've just installed a Siduction VM, so I can always have access to that OS, even when it's not installed on that particular hardware.  After a clean installation and a full upgrade, I've been experiencing all sorts of issues involving btrfs as I configure the VM, even though the OS is installed on ext4.  In no way is btrfs in use on that VM.

For example, here I was trying to install Vivaldi-stable:

Is this experience unique to me, or have other users noticed this after a Siduction installation and full upgrade?

Hi,

Please give the output of

Code: [Select]
ls -l /etc/systemd/system/sidu*
and

Code: [Select]
ls -l /etc/grub.d/
and

Code: [Select]
apt policy siduction-btrfs

Code: [Select]
apt purge siduction-btrfs
You don't need it.

Hi,

and

Code: [Select]

and

Code: [Select]
apt policy siduction-btrfs
I posted a reply to this, but the forum has me totally confused now,  I can't see my replies here at all (posting from the Siduction VM, of course).  Do I need to repost those reuslts, or can everyone else wee them?  Thanks.

As towo wrote

the easiest way: purge the package siduction-btrfs

Thank you!  Since Vivaldi did actually install, I assume that  will solve the btrfs problem.  Reporting this has been made difficult because of very unusual cursor issues in this VM, but that apparently has nothing to do with btrfs, I'll mention it in a different thread.  Again, it may be a VM issue, not a Siduction issue, but I have no way of knowing which it is.
