[EN] live-usb stick stuck on boot
« on: 2012/10/12, 19:38:22 »
Hi, I want to have a persistent USB-stick (razorqt). I tried the following:
1)formatting stick with gparted to ext2/fat32 with boot flag
2)sux,  install-usb-gui.bash, choosing *.iso

console output:
Code: [Select]

QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
konsole(1178): "Could not find binary: " "/tmp/.2s8hhRQzKC"

window opens saying:
user abort
** STOP**

and #terminal opens saying :

Code: [Select]

Warning: Could not find '/tmp/.2s8hhRQzKC', starting '/bin/bash' instead.  Please check your profile settings.

Therefore I tried fll-iso2usb.
I skipped the -f option, cause the installation failed when I formatted the stick myself with gparted to ext2 and/or fat32.

Hence:

Code: [Select]

fll-iso2usb -D /dev/sdh --iso /home/patrik/software/Linux/siduction-12.1.5-razorqt-razor-qt-i386-201205282239.iso -p

Installation succeed, no errors:

Unfortunately, boot stucks:
grub ok -> press enter...Loading etc. the after:
.
.
Preparing live filesystem...

Starting init process...

The stick stops blinking and system freezes :(

The *iso is ok, that means it works in VM
What could be the problem here?

By the way, I'm running: Linux 3.6-1.slh.3-aptosid-amd64 x86_64 [ aptosid 2011-03 Πόνος - kde-lite - (201112312100)

Are you sure that the system freezes?

I have a kde-installation on a stick which stops booting. I have to use "CTRL"+"d" to continue, then it works with no more issus.

ayla: CTRL+D is not working, I have to hard reboot. In addition, CAPS LOCK is enabled when freezed.

By the way, with the aptosid version of XFCE, the fll-iso2usb method described above worked.
