[EN] Missing Volume Control
« on: 2018/02/25, 04:00:53 »
Somehow I have managed to lose the ability to control volume.  The icon in the tray has disappeared as well as the keyboard keys do nothing.  This seemingly happened without my doing anything intentional.

I did a full upgrade this morning, 10 hours ago, and following this seemed to be working fine.  I watched a Netflix show and pretty sure I turned the volume up.  This evening I attempted to fire up Netflix again, but now no volume control

I did do an autoremove after the upgrade, but believe things were fine after.  I have purged pulseaudio and reinstalled, and tried a few other things that I found, but nothing works.  I am sure this is probably a simple thing that I caused and am overlooking the solution.

Thanks in advance.

We'll need to know about your DE and audio hardware.  Install inxi if you don't already have it, then run

Code: [Select]
inxi -AS and post the output here.

Also, in a user terminal, run

Code: [Select]
aplay -l and post the output in your reply.

You could also install pavucotrol and use that.

Thanks to both but I ended up getting myself into a little more trouble and ended up just re-installing.
