[EN] (solved) intel graphics and kernel 3.5 series
« on: 2014/07/19, 21:25:04 »
Hi

I have been bemused that all I get is a 'black screen of death' using the 3.5.xx kernel.

Looking at lspci I have a intel corp. mobile GM965/GL960 integrated graphics controller.

Does anyone know what this is about.

PS its only when starting X.

Hi
As part of the du yesterday, kernel-3.15.6 was installed.  I have just booted up siduction with that kernel and the screen is now ok.
Thanks for the heads up :)

Spoke too soon.  Even though the end of the discussion given points to 3.15.6 having the problem fixed, and even though initially it booted with this kernel, subsequent attempts have been pointless.
Carry on using 3.14.2 then :D

Same what? You do not have Intel GMA 945 graphics.

Hi all,

just d-u'ed this morn.

Kernel-3.15-7-amd64 is now installed.

The problem is now solved.

BTW the 3.15-6.2 did nor solve the problem FAWI.

So solved

Thanks to whoever fixed it - I'm guessing towo  :)

EDIT

Sorry, but as with a previous kernel, it was a false flag.  Yes, it booted once, but after that no more mr nice guy.

I think it needs to be able to run more than once, without the black screen of death to qualify as fixed.

Stiil not fixed - not even for the 16.1 kernel.
