@zash1958, just let the d-u remove them and when your system is updated, they are reinstallable with the correct dependencies.  Here is a laptop just updated today:

Code: [Select]
root@dibl-HP350:/# uname -a
Linux dibl-HP350 4.18.11-towo.1-siduction-amd64 #1 SMP siduction 4.18-13 (2018-09-29) x86_64 GNU/Linux
root@dibl-HP350:/# apt policy digikam
digikam:
  Installed: 4:5.9.0-1
  Candidate: 4:5.9.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 4:5.9.0-1 500
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian unstable/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
root@dibl-HP350:/# apt policy kipi-plugins
kipi-plugins:
  Installed: 4:5.9.0-1
  Candidate: 4:5.9.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 4:5.9.0-1 500
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian unstable/main amd64 Packages

What happens ?
Not the first time :
Update for libsane-common : colord, digikam...,LIBSANE, ..... has to be removed  LIBSANE1 has to be installed and sane-utils  has to be upgraded
It is the third time it happens to me

Last time was the same but LIBSANE1 has to be removed and LIBSANE installed.
So first I had libsane , then libsane1 then back libsane and now again libsane1.What Next time , again libsane or maybe libsane2
libsane-common and sane-utils pinned till next upgrade (if solved)
REMARK :
libsane-common and sane-utils have both same  installed version and latest version : 1.0.27-2~2 ,
but must be upgraded both ?

Did you do
Code: [Select]
apt dist-upgrade libsane+  ?
The + is not a typo, it belongs there.

try using AppImage from digikam.org ...

IMHO the best use case
