DeepDayze:
Semplice Linux is an Openbox based distro that also has a Debian Sid base and its home's in Italy :)

Their site is:

koroshiya:
A shallow comparison between the release candidates of Semplice 2.0 and Siduction LXDE 11.1:

http://koroshiyaitchy.wordpress.com/2011/12/24/semplice-2-0rc-vs-siduction-lxde-11-1-rc/

DeepDayze:
Pretty good review that shows the differences and similarities between the two distros. LXDE is Openbox with standardized elements such as PCManFM for file manager
while Semplice is plain Openbox and using ROX-Filer

hinto:
I have (at one time) replaced OpenBox in LXDE with Metacity in another distro.  In other words, LXDE is not bound to OpenBox.
