[EN] Automount of hard disk in kf5
« on: 2016/02/15, 14:16:18 »
In kde4 there was a panel to configure that, in kde5 this panel not exist but the old is avaiable but not work.
I read that now is not required because is systemd that auto mount the hard drive but actually I don't find any info for that.
There is a way for auto mount of hard disk?

From what you are speaking about?
Internal drives?
External drives?

Does the device manager widget not offer to mount it when you plug in the drive?

I am not an expert on udev rules, but that sounds like something that could be handled by a custom udev rule.

I am also waiting for this to appear!

in KDE4 you could do this in systemsettings, in plasma 5 it is still not possible as far as I know (from systemsettings gui), so maybe a udevrule ist right!

on my second computer in my USB-mounts it shows to internal harddrives (2 out of 6???), very strange too :-)

Free speech isn't just fucking saying what you want to say, it's also hearing what you don't want to fucking hear

I either give too many fucks or no fucks at all, it's like I cannot find a middle ground for a moderate fuck distribution, it's like what the fuck

This works but I see that on a new update of KDE that configuration is removed...

I'm on Netrunner 17 ATM and when I plug in my USB Backup HD it is automounted? I plug it in and can go to the corresponding folder in /media/<username>/ and all data is shown without mounting. I can call "kcmshell5 device_automounter_kcm" to show the options for automounting removable media. The file device_automounter_kcm is in package plasma-desktop-data which here is installed in version 5.5.3.

Sid only has Plasma 5.4.3, so for Debian you'd need 5.5.4 from experimental: https://packages.debian.org/experimental/all/plasma-desktop-data/filelist
