I have upgraded only two systems here -- both have Nvidia graphics. Both systems boot to tty1 and there it ends. Among the boot messages flying by, I saw "Failed to start nvidia persistence daemon".
Here is one of the systems:
System:
Kernel: 5.15.16-1-siduction-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.23.5
Distro: siduction 18.3.0 Patience - kde - (201805132121)
Machine:
Type: Desktop Mobo: ASUSTeK model: ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING v: Rev 1.xx
serial: <superuser required> UEFI: American Megatrends v: 1401
date: 05/21/2018
CPU:
Info: quad core model: Intel Core i7-7740X bits: 64 type: MT MCP cache:

4: 1957 5: 3735 6: 2982 7: 4308 8: 4146
Graphics:
Device-1: NVIDIA GP106 [GeForce GTX 1060 6GB] driver: nvidia v: 495.44
Device-2: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 type: USB

Back to kernel 5.15.16-1 and it's all good.
This is just to alert the users -- I will troubleshoot later.
-
Install 495.46-1 from experimental. Or 510.39.01 from our experimental.
-
No problems here with
uname -r
5.16.3-1-siduction-amd64
and
nvidia-driver:
Installiert: 470.94-1
This is older HW not supported by nvidia 495.46-1 (as far as I understand it).
-
Got it -- thank you. Yes, the Nvidia driver from siduction/extra experimental is the solution for my hardware.
uname -a
Linux dibl-patience 5.16.3-1-siduction-amd64
nvidia-driver:
Installed: 510.39.01-0~siduction.1
Thank you very much for the great work!

Hallo Dibl
I would like to install the Nvidia- driver from experimental but I don't know how to. I've tried to put the experimental source into my extra list but actually I don't know how. Can you give me a hand on this?
What I've tried so far:
deb https://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/siduction/extra/dists/ experimental main contrib none-free
Thank you

@towo
Hallo towo
Herzlichen Dank

@towo
Mit "Augen zu und durch" geschafft:
Quellen deinem Hinweis entsprechend angepasst und dann
apt-get -t experimental install nvidia-driver
führte zum Erfolg:
uname -r
5.16.3-1-siduction-amd64
nvidia-driver 510.39.01
Herzlichen Dank

Schönes WE, edlin

I still get a black screen with nvidia - I cannot install the latest nvidia driver from experimental due to unmet dependencies:

@ToWo ...
Hi ...
deb https://packages.siduction.org/extra experimental main contrib non-free
apt update && apt -t experimental install nvidia-driver
Herzlichen Dank.
