Hello,

I'd like to migrate from Debian (stable) to siduction, Most of the time I was using Debian Sid, but recently went to the stable in order to reduce possible admin overhead. Distros like openSuse Tumbleweed are not suitable for me - fiddling with 3rd party repos for media stuff etc. So, siduction wit hits btrfs/snapper-rollbacks feature and being community distro looks as the right thing.

Unfortunately, my attempt to test it a bit on my spare machine - old netbook is failure...
Although the same (xfce) iso image does work with my main (bios) machine, it fails on Lenovo E125 netbook - there is no grub screen visible.

The specs of the machine are:

Lenovo E125-303522U

    Processor. AMD C-50 2 x 1 GHz, Ontario.
    AMD Radeon HD 6250 - shared memory; vom Hauptspeicher bis zu 1972 MB VRAM, Core: 275 MHz, Memory: 533 MHz, 8.813.4.0.
    4 GB. , PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM.
    Display. 11.60 inch 16:9, 1366 x 768 pixel, TN, glossy: yes.

I assume it could be due to its (small) screen resolution and hendrikL on #siduction hinted I might need nomodeset variable?

Another idea is to try with some older iso (xfce) image, but could not find any. 

Any hint?

How does it look like?

How when I do not get to the Grub menu, iow. with siduction-22 iso I only get to the "Welcome to GRUB" and then the process hangs, while with siduction-23 image I do not even see that title?

Usually you start the machine in question with the siduction-live-iso and show the parted command from it....  or, are you kidding me?

No, I'm not kidding you...why should I?

I thought you're interested in the output of cmd to see whether the image was transferred to the stick properly.

Considering I can't start machine with siduction-live-iso, how can I run parted cmd on it?

I continue my fight with the attempt to boot siduction live-iso on my netbook...tried with some older images, but the best what I get is "Welcome to Grub" and then it hangs.

The fact is that I can boot isos from many different distros (Debian, Fedora, Mint, openSuse, SpiralLinux,...), but the one from siduction  does not work.

The parted command can also be issued by any other Linux...  (debian preferred)

Yes, it is. 
You use a 15.4 GB stick and copy an image that sets its own end at 2.9 GB.

I suspect one of the frequently described problems with Secure Boot and/or the CSM setting in the bios.

Yes, debian installer works OK. I had Tumbleweed on that machine recently installed. SpiralLinux iso also does boot. Actually, I never experienced such problem that iso from the stick does not boot,

No, I try to boot directly from the stick.

In my bios I've settings to use legacy/uefi/both and something does happen (I can see "Welcome to Grub") only when it is set to 'uefi'.

Yes. Let me add that e.g. newest iso boots normally on my main desktop bios/gpt machine, but before migrating to Siduction I'd like to test it a bit on the spare (uefi) machine which is problematic.

How old is your netbook, meaning, can it handle GPT partitioned media (at all)?
The debian (live) ISOs are classical mbr partitioned or (Apple) MAC partitioned.

Sorry, forget my question. When it is "secure boot" capable it must understand GPT.

Sure it can...actually I've, due to some bug in bios, problem using bios/gpt, but uefi does work well.
