Hi,
I'm facing a minor prob with current XORG. The system in use has onboard graphics (Intel).
My problem in KDE:
A console is nearly unusable because of flickering characters and backspace/del hard to position. Even apps like Libreoffice Calc are not displaying in a proper manor.
Waiting a few seconds without hitting a key will bring back characters readable.
A command like top shows a nicely flickering screen.
After downgrading XORG the system seems to be usable.
For XORG after downgrade from 1:7.7+23 to 1:7.7+7
apt policy xorg
xorg:
Installiert: 1:7.7+7

Using google I see you are not the only one who has had problems with the UHD 630 graphics.
This thread might be useful:

Also, this one:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1125352-start-0.html
In particular, you might give "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i915.alpha_support=1 quiet splash" in your /etc/default/grub file a try.
Make sure you have installed the packages firmware-linux, firmware-linux-free, and firmware-linux-nonfree.

Hi & thx for your fast reply.
Sorry but at the end I downgraded XORG again.
fyi:
-All mentioned firmware-packages have been in place.
-The update of the grub command line seemed to work (I did not forget to update-grub after a first try from the grub menu at system start end editing the grub file later). But at the end scrolling in dolphin was a mess. So I give up for today.
I will have a closer look on it over the next week.
Thanks a lot and have a nice weekend.

With Wayland instead of X11 my problems are solved.
