(solved) Need a tip: migrating Icedove email (old hdd > latest hdd

I hope all you admins and advanced users will again accept my strong thanks for
superb siduction
.
The old hdd went wonky. An advanced user local friend couldn't figure out why.
So I built a new rig which is working primo.
I've moved the old hdd to the new rig, and moved my music and Icedove email address directory over.
A collection of text files moved over will complete the job.
My advanced user friend couldn't find how to migrate Icedove email from the old hdd.
Will someone kindly offer a tip ? Where do I find the magic button?
And before I forget: heartfelt best wishes to all for abundant joy and peace (and order) at Christmas.

Ok, you can't code, but you still might be able to write a bug report for Debian's sake
