Does it seem, so far, that one is "better" than the other?  Just by reading the instructions, snap seems a bit easier to use...

Yes, snap seems a bit easier, but flatpak is the same, once you have the runtime installed. But the important part here is security. Imagine you download a malciously crafted flatpak or snap from the internet, which runs it's evil routines on your box and takes it over.


I am investigating on the security models of both packaging methods for an article for a linux magazine and will put excerpts of my findings on our blog. But it will be another month before that happens.
