[EN] KDE moves away from Qt
« on: 2022/04/01, 07:18:55 »
I was eagerly waiting for KDE Plasma and all its software to make the move to Qt6. As rumors have it, this is not going to happen. Given that the Qt Company  has been tightening the screws on free software lately, the KDE team has decided to move to GTK in the background while keeping its typical look up front. This is bad news for Qt fans and for siduction. We now need a maintainer that knows the ins and outs of GTK. Regarding the new name of the product, devs are pondering on KNOME.

Also they  introduced an interesting new feature called KNotch and I am very excited about it.

Would someone please post a succinct description of KNOTCH?  I've tried to research it, but most articles I've found are simply YouTube videos telling how great it is, and how to install it from its backport to KDE 5.x.  I'm pretty curious by now.  Thanks!
