Title: bluez-obexd is being held back. Is that ok?
Post by: vayu on 2015/01/11, 04:35:28
I use bluetooth sometimes but am not dependent on it now.  I'm more concerned about my libraries not having conflicts in later upgrades. Does anyone know about bluez?

hello vayu,

i'm not sure if bluez-obexd is still needed. It's not part of the default bluetooth functions. This was the software that is independent as obexd, but this has been integrated into BlueZ from BlueZ 5.0.

The installationcandidate depends on libical1a which recently has replaced libical1.
see this thread du will remove KDE apps (http://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=5269.0).

I wonder why your stuff isn't removed. Which command did you use to upgrade your system?

greetings
musca

Thanks.  It's the only package held back in a regular du.

If I try to install libical1a or if I try to remove libical1 it wants to remove 77 KDE packages? Will this just resolve or do I have to do something?

This got solved here and for others (http://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=5269.msg43098#new) with a simple dist-upgrade, which removed libical1, newly installed libical1a and updated the rest. If this does not work for you, please paste the complete output of 'apt-get dist-upgrade' (of course after apt-get update ;) ).

bluez-obexd is not installed on my system, libical1 is. And a d-u does not want to remove it although it doesn't seem to be in any repository. If I would try to install libical1a manually it would remove half of kde, but a d-u does not harm (kde-next is enabled). It's "just" that my system depends on an outdated package which it doesn't seem to know  :o.
