KDE SC 4.10.4 available in kdenext/unstable
« on: 2013/06/04, 20:18:35 »
Hello,

KDE SC 4.10.4 is now available in kdenext/unstable, to use it, make sure you have this line in any of your sources.list files:
deb http://packages.siduction.org/kdenext unstable main

As in previous releases it doesn't include the new kdepim yet (it's going to be available soon in a separate repository so it would be optional to install it).

Cheers.

I have just tested and it doesn't happen to me. Do you have a backtrace?

Usually when something crashes in kde you get a window like this one

The left tab shows a backtrace which might be more or less useful depending on the packages you have installed.

@lanzi,

do you have krusader-dbg installed?
Which phonon-backend do you use?

edit: i think its more important to have kde-workspace-dbg installed, maybe the phonon-$foo-dbg also.

phonon-backends: vlc und gstreamer

krusader-dbg and kde-workspace-dbg were missing.
I install them right now and will see, what happens.

I know, that's a lot, but if you want to have a useful debug output you will need it.

You can see it if the output is useful or not, the crash dialogue shows yellow stars in the upper right corner and telling you if it is useful or not.

If the output is useful you don't have to install that debugging packages, in most cases they are needed for it.

Well, it is your choice.

Which one of the phonon backends (vlc/gstreamer) do you actually use when KNotify is crashing?
Do you have sound notifications activated?

I tested krusader, deleting a bunch of files (cleaning up my home), noting happens, everything went fine. (no sound notifications activated).

edit:
Ps. the best way to provide the crash dialogue is to save it to a file and use
Code: [Select]
siduction-paste <file> and give us the url, because it will be a very long and better readable if you use a paste service for it.
