[EN] [SOLVED] Skype broken
« on: 2013/12/29, 18:29:17 »
Sometime in the past week skype stopped functioning for me.  Audio and video seem fine, but the communication does not work -- cannot get an answer at test call, and other users don't show up online, nor can they see me online.

Is it the same for everyone?  I assume something in recent Debian development has broken the compatibility with skype ver. 4.2.0.11.  Google is not showing me anything about it.

I was afraid you would say that, devil.

Code: [Select]
root@imerabox:/# apt-cache policy skype
skype:i386:
  Installed: 4.2.0.11-1

OK.  Let the troubleshooting begin ....    ;)

Fixed.

I have no idea why, but I purged everything under ~/.Skype, and that cured the problem.  I suspect some kind of malware came in via the skype channel, but it's gone now.
