[EN] Please help. (SOLVED)
« on: 2011/12/30, 15:14:40 »
Sorry if this is a double post. English was my second languange, that's the reason why I wrote this post.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L735, after clean install siduction 11.1 rc (and dualbot with Win7) I have few problems. And the problems is :

1. Sound was too small, hardly heard anything. (but headset work, aptosid not)
2. Bluetooth, webcam and battery not recognize. (aptosid can't detect webcam but everything works).
3. Must use CLI to run my usb modem with sakis3g (don't have to go to CLI in aptosid).
4. ntfs-3g only mounted and read win7 partition, cannot write into the partition even I used Krusader as root.

I read the in the aptosid forum that updating kernel fix everything. So I run apt-get -dist-upgrade and get kernel siduction 3.1.6 amd64

Now
1. Sound work like a charm (better than Win7 and aptosid)
2. Bluetooth and webcam stil not found but battery works.
3. sakis3g still runs on CLI.
4. Still can't write on ntfs partition.

Please refer me to other post if any. Thanks.

Regards,
gunmetalsid

PS:
siduction means seduction to me, can't get enough of it. Ceni works, it really works. Is there any closer mirror repository for East Asian? I use internode on aptosid.

We do not ship infobash, so
Code: [Select]
inxi -v3
would be more usefull.

On bluetooth: Have you installed the eventually required firmware ?
What vendor is your bluetooth-device from?
As mentioned before "inxi -v3, lsusb or lspci might help to identify that device.

This seems to be your bluetooth-device:
0930:0215 Toshiba Corp.

To my knowledge It should be recognized with actual kernels.

Could you please verify if you have installed all the required software for bluetooth ?
Especiaclly the packages bluez, bluedevil and/or blueman might be required as well as the firmware-atheros which seems to support this device.

You can't find atheros firmware, because atheros does not need firmware.

@towo:
Ooooppps ? have I been wrong ? firmware-atheros (0,34) is still listed here in my package list (mostly for wlan-devices).

However when googling for that device I found at:

where it described that the driver/module ath3k should load firmware for the atheros bluetooth-chipset.

The device in question is listed there also:
vendor: 0930 ("Toshiba Corp."), product: 0215.

So was I just wrong ? Misunderstanding or outdated page ?]

Yes, you are right, some devices needs firmware.
Quote

Description: Binary firmware for Atheros wireless cards
This package contains the binary firmware for USB wireless network and
Bluetooth cards supported by the ar9170, ath3k or ath9k_htc drivers.

And firmware-atheros needs non-free in the sources.
