Amüsanter Thread. Vielleicht nicht für den Threadstarter.

ASUS -Motherboard M 5 A 78

Gibt's nicht. Die Mainboards heißen Asus M5A78L-M/LE mit weiteren Zusätzen. Im Endeffekt aber egal, alt sind sie sämtlich - und das ist der Knackpunkt.

Seitenteil abnehmen und das Mainboard auf Sicht prüfen, Stichwort gekommene Elkos! Ist auch nur einer ausgefallen (Elektrolyt vergrößert beim Austrocknen das Volumen, Elkos platzen an der Sollbruchstelle X/Y auf, manchmal auch auf der Unterseite, es tritt gelblichbraunes Elektrolyt aus), hast Du verloren.

Sowas kann auch Netzteilen oder Grafikkarten passieren.

Deine Frau hat dir ja schon einmal einen ersten Lösungsansatz geliefert, indem sie einen richtigen Kaltstart ausgelöst hat. Falls sie das regelmäßig bei dir macht, solltest du auch mal darüber nachdenken, ob es sich um eine Kaltstartattacke handelt. Regelmäßig durchgeführt, kann man sich so auch von der Robustheit des Dateisystems überzeugen.
Die Frage ist jetzt, ob der PC künftig auch wieder öfters beim Start hängen bleibt oder ob das eine einmalige Geschichte war. Der funktionierende Kaltstart deutet zumindest darauf hin, dass eine Hardwarekomponente in einem inkonsistenten Zustand war.

Aber vielleicht denken wir nur zu kompliziert und deine Frau wollte dir einen Tipp für ein Weihnachtsgeschenk geben ...

I think it could become a great alternative but it's not there yet.

LOL!  Perhaps "light weight" is another way to say "incomplete"!

I've used it on ancient laptops for a long while. The last old Dell from about 2009 ran LxQt for many years with no problem, but it died before this last version came out. Basically I'm just using these for browser appliances in the bedroom. This new LxQt that came with Giants actually is pretty satisfactory in all other ways. I'm not a fan of the so-called "desktop" launchers -- I prefer a clean desktop screen and the frequently used packages parked on the task manager, and that works perfectly. Connman is fully functional, if kind of complicated. Partitioning the SSD was a bit tricky, but that's not on LxQt.

On the old Dell I had a Plank launcher at the top of the screen, but I don't think I need to bother with that since this setup is working perfectly from the task manager on the panel. I guess I'll just have to set a stopwatch to 2 hours, 10 minutes and then shut it down,

It's been a while since I was using LXQT but as I remember it's similar to Xfce4. First you have the status notifier on the panel then the power manager sits in the tray. Like I said this is all from memory.

I liked LXQT for the most part but found it really disconnected in some aspects. I reported some faulty behavior of the nm-applet on github as a bug and the response was a link to the source code. After finding a bunch of little things frustratingly buggy I left it behind. I think it could become a great alternative but it's not there yet.

Nein, richtig, nur win 10. Will mit einem Linuxlive-System gucken ob der PC überhaupt hochfährt bzw. auf dem Stick sind Geschichten wie Rescue etc.

Aber...neues von der Front. Nach ca. 20 min startet das Bios, das ich per F-Taste aufgerufen habe. Aber wiederum nur ein Standbild.
Dann kommt meine liebe Frau und sagt mir, ich möge bitte nix machen, zieht den Stecker von PC und Monitor steckt sie wieder rein, siehe da, der PC startet wieder hoch. Da ist doch was faul!!!

dein Text liest sich folgendermaßen für mich:

ein Asus-PC (der deiner Frau) hat lediglich WIN 10 installiert, bootet aber nicht.
Du willst jetzt mittels USB-Stick, auf dem sich ein Linuxlive befindet, den PC ans Laufen bringen.

ist dein post so zu verstehen ?

oder handelt es sich um einen PC mit Dualinstallation siduction/windows ?

I am normally a KDE/Plasma desktop user, so ......

An old laptop in good condition fell into my hands, but only 1G of memory, dead battery, and ancient hdd. I spent $100 USD and got a new battery, an 8G DIMM, and a 125G SSD and now it works pretty well for a little over 2 hours, until the battery is discharged. I installed LxQt "Giants" on it. I have played with the LxQt configuration settings, including power management. There are 3 lovely battery display options, and I have checked the boxes to enable the battery monitor and to have the icon displayed. I have tried all the icons. Nothing appears on the panel. I played with panel configurations but no help there. I suspect a bug, but maybe I am the bug ....

Does anyone know anything about this issue?

Liebe Helfer,

ich weiß wo ich bin . Habe ja jetzt selber das neue Siduction auf dem PC aber meine Frau bleibt bei Win 10. Da zeigt sich folgendes Problem: der PC startet und eine Anzeige erscheint, daß sie ein ASUS -Motherboard M 5 A 78 hat.  Hab einen USB-Stick eingesteckt um mit Linux-Live Systemen und Rettungswerkzeug um Win 10 zu starten.
Es werden per F-Taste 4 Möglichkeiten wie Bios, etc. angeboten. Der PC reagiert nicht. Was tun???

Vielen Dank im Vorraus für Hilfe auf dem Fremdgelände.

thx für dein feedback. Habe mittlerweile rausgefunden was das Problem ist.
Die SSD macht Probleme, wenn sie zu warm wird. Deshalb hat der live Modus auch geklappt... weil nix auf SSD geschrieben wurde.
Das Teil ist erst ein paar Wochen alt, weshalb ich da nicht mit gerechnet hatte.
Hatte vor dem Post alle USB-Ports durchprobiert, einen anderen Stick genommen (hatte 2 gekauft) und 2 andere Linux Distros ausprobiert - welche zufällig funktioniert hatten.
Heute mittag bei kaltem Rechner, wollte den apt policy firmware-realtek posten, habe ich plötzlich des WLAN nutzen können.

P.S:
Bleibe auf jeden Fall bei Siduction, weil es sich für mich am besten "anfühlt".
