[EN] Wanted: keyboard shortcut to start a hibernate
« on: 2023/04/16, 23:08:51 »
On a KDE Plasma setup, I've started to use the hibernate feature a lot, and I'd like to be able to start it with a keyboard shortcut instead of needing to open the menu and pick it from there.

I've tried to enable this with the shortcuts section in the system settings, but nothing I've tried there will actually work.  Apparently hibernate is neither an application nor a command.  I'm not sure what it is.  I'd like to end up with something like the META+L shortcut that locks the screen, but instead starts a hibernation.

Does anyone know whether it's simply not possible to create a shortcut for hibernate, or have I just not figured out how to do it?

Maybe you can create a shortcut for the command "systemctl hibernate".

YES!  That  works great.  Now when I retire for the night, I can just press ALT+H to hibernate this machine.  Thanks for the suggestion.
