kde 4.8 hits sid
« on: 2012/06/10, 11:20:11 »
With my d-u today a lot of kde-packages (4.8.4 and 4.8.3) hits my system. The d-u "works for me"™, the upgrade run without problems. YMMV, so ready the output carefully befor you hit <y><enter>.

With KDE 4.8 in sid there is no need for siduction/kdenext, so i disabled our repo. Please disable/remove kdenext in/from your sources.

Eine ganze Menge an KDE-Pakete ist beim heutigen d-u aktualisiert worden, "bei mir läufts"™ ohne Probleme. Also, lesen vor <y><enter>.

Da KDE 4.8 jetzt in sid ist, habe ich unser kdenext-Repo deaktiviert. Kommentiert das aus oder entfernt das auch aus Euren Quellen.

+1

However, it looks like KDE Network Wizard remains broken, for ssh on the LAN. Can anyone confirm this?

kdenetwork-filesharing is now upgraded to 4.8.4.  I wanted to try to set up simple filesharing on the LAN. With root-mode dolphin I marked a folder on the server for sharing, but on the client, "Add Network Folder" won't connect.  Back to the server, and I was surprised to see the folder is no longer marked for sharing.

?

It seems that the properties of the folder, after being set with root-mode dolphin, do not persist after dolphin is closed.

Bug, or stupid user issue?

Are you sure root priveleges are neccessary to enable a (user accessible) folder for being shared? I don't use kdenetwork-filesharing, so I can't tell for sure, but if in dolphin I enable a secure shell connection to an other computer, I do it as user.
Ok, you can't code, but you still might be able to write a bug report for Debian's sake

No, I am not sure, but I can do the same thing as a user (only for my user's folders, of course) and the share is also not persistent after dolphin is closed.
