[EN] today's d-u; question to understand
« on: 2013/08/14, 10:58:03 »
Hi,

this line I had in today's d-u:
Quote
update-rc.d: warning: start and stop actions are no longer supported; falling back to defaults

What does this mean? Is there an influence on calling init.d scripts from bash? E.g "/etc/init.d/networking stop/start/restart ?

greets
ayla

Might be they want to introcude a common wrapper for all init systems, like:
service restart SERVICE

The wrapper "service" then calls automatically systemd or init.d/srcipts dependend of what is  currently running on your system
experiencing siduction runs better than my gentoo makes me know I know nothing

If you are right, it will create lots of fun.
Ok, you can't code, but you still might be able to write a bug report for Debian's sake
