[EN] netinst

what about a "netinst" version of siduction?
would it be possible?

or a script that "convert" a normal installation of debian in siduction...
so it would be possible a debian netinst, and then the "conversion" to siduction.

in this way, you can install directly an updated version of it, just some weeks later a release, mostly packages ar old...
and you can install DE and applications you want...

it's just an idea. what about?

Why go thru all that time and hassle ?

Makes no sense at all converting debian to sid (debian does not release sid iso's)

Just install the siduction iso, dist-upgrade, done

I don't think it is time and hassle...
there is the mini.iso image, and you can choose "sid". so you can install directly what you want.

if I install the latest siduction image, I have to donwload and replace 99% of packages...
I don't think it's faster...

but it was just an idea.  ;)

Use the noX version.
Siduction is a live medium, the installer does not install any package, he is copying the content of the medium to hd.
So now proof us how do you do a netinstall on that given facts.

I will try also the noX version! ;)

I'm not sure I understood the question...
I was saying: you do a "normal debian netinst" and then you download a script that "convert" it to siduction.

siduction is debian sid + kde + siduction repo + personalizations + other software.
I install debian sid (the base) from the net, so it's already up to date.
then the script will add siduction repo and install siduction-art, the kernel, and others sid-packages that are usually in the distro (all of theese, updated). and let me choose if install kde, lxqt, or other

this because if you install other distros, even months later you have only some package to update (for security).
with sid, even a few weeks later, you have 99% of packages to be updated...

pyfll + noX + your apps = pretty much custom netinst  / full blown what you want

It's a learning process, but, this is linux, what you are asking I can say probably 99.9 % ain't happening  ;)

Documentation: nearly none -  otherwise: read the code :) - and you can look at our configurations

git clone git://git.siduction.org/code/pyfll

if there are questions, don't hestitate to ask in #siduction or #siduction-dev
