Pulseaudio lists no Microphones
« on: 2018/11/16, 05:14:09 »

Pavucontrol no longer lists my motherboard line in, but arecord -l does.
I want to voice chat with someone and I cannot
here is arecord -l:

Code: [Select]

gek@gek-pc:~$ arecord -l
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 2: ALC887-VD Alt Analog [ALC887-VD Alt Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
gek@gek-pc:~$
and here is the result of pacmd list-sources to show that pulseaudio doesnt see my motherboard line in (which I suspect is the PCH thing in arecord):

Code: [Select]

gek@gek-pc:~$ pacmd list-sources

Pulseaudio hasn't been able to see my microphone for about a month now. It's really REALLY frustrating.

I had the same problem on a laptop some weeks ago. It was only solved after I reinstalled all alsa and pulseaudio packages.  I never discovered what exactly happened -- apparently a configuration was changed in a d-u, and reinstalling all the sound packages corrected the problem.
