Title: tty_visual-garbage
Post by: jyp on 2018/07/01, 20:36:30
HI
I suddenly recently got visual garbage in all the tty (1-6).Not a big deal but annoying in such a fine system as siduction.
I tried to google that but no results.Any clue?(https://forum.siduction.org/file:///home/jy/Downloads/tty_20180701_01.jpg)

Please post output of inxi -v2 and ledt us know what flavour and release of siduction you are using. Also, are you dist-upgraded to current?

Did a full-upgrade yesterday, July 1st, whithout any problem... except that the login appears in tty1; I have to do Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get to the kde login screen.

Hmm - Debian default is 7

@melmarkerYour reply is a bit cryptic for me. My knowledge is limited.
What does it mean, "Debian default is 7" ?
Thanks

Just did a full-upgrade a few minutes ago.Same behaviour.
The plasma login screen appears for one second and I am redirected to tty1 (still with the visual garbage).ctrl+alt+F7 brings me back to the plasma login screen and the login goes without problem.

Strange: it is my first experience of the kind. Not dramatic, just annoying.

Thank you..

debian starts the login on 7 - 1-6 are reserved for ttys by default - right now the might be a hicup in sddm (very slow start) - normally vt1 is displayed in the starting time - might disappear with the next updates. Unfortunately i can't reproduce this bug.

@melmarkerThanks.It starts at 7... for one second then falls back to tty1.But, as I mentionned in this threa, I can go back to 7 and login from there as usual. Will wait then for this bug to be ironed out.
But the tty garbage is still there.

There is a thread in the german subforum which recomments the use of a monotype font in such a case.

As to a solution why you can't start into the graphical session automaticaly: Is sddm installed?

Sorry, my mistake. We need to see /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Can't spot anything wrong in there. Right now I have fully upgraded 5 devices with Plasma and Intel GFX and none of them shows this problem.

Does ~.xsession-errors give any hint about the problem?

Also, to make sure it is only a software error, boot a live CD or USB stick and check the behavior of the switch from X to tty 1-6.

@dibl
I check booting from the latest siduction iso and there is no visual garbage in tty1-6.

As far as the .xsession-errors file, it is a big file (6.5M) and I am not savvy enough to find any clue from there, no knowing really what to look for. Cannot use pastebin either (the file is too big, the maximum paste size is exceeded)

Thanks

When you boot the live iso, run inxi -v3 and compare that graphics driver info to what you posted above for your installed system.  Look for something different.  That may give a hint about the problem.
