[EN] can't boot after dist-upgrade
« on: 2014/07/18, 00:01:02 »
I did a dist-upgrade today after first checking to make sure nothing critical was going to be removed.  Everything went normal.  When done I shut down the computer rather than return to KDE
.
siduction december is the default choice on grub.  Now siduction won't boot. After the grub screen its starts the bootup process but then the system totally freezes with error message from Dell that reads as follows.

“The current input timing is not supported by the moniotor display. Pklease change your input timing as  per the monitor 1920x1080@60Hz”

I have to kill the power and start again. I tried using grub to boot to the prior Towo kernal but that didn't help.  Luckily I have Debian 7.2 installed on another partition so I'm back in business.

I don't know how to proceed. I don't want to have to reinstall siduction.

You should boot from a live cd and copy /var/log/Xorg.0.log from the install. Paste that in here.

I was able to boot using the previous kernel. The problem for me seemed to be the use of the following kernel

linux-image-3.15-5.towo.2-siduction-amd64
