Last successful d-u was 17/9 but I delayed since then because of kf5 transition. Tried for the last couple of days but now it wants to remove 142 packages including most of KDE. No packages on hold. Nobody else has reported a similar problem so I am stuck.

It's okay, it is only an upgrade to plasma 5.10.
Yesterday in the morning i'vd upgraded a system after over a month. The system works very well after the upgrade.
-
That's not it. Plasma 5.10 is installed and latest version:
apt-cache policy plasma-desktop
plasma-desktop:
Installed: 4:5.10.5-2
Candidate: 4:5.10.5-2
Version table:
*** 4:5.10.5-2 500
500 http://deb.debian.org/debian unstable/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Other installed plasma* packages are also at 5.10.5-2 . If you look at my paste log, all plasma packages are listed to remove but not replaced.

Nothing gets removed these days. You could do a apt upgrade and then look at the situation again. Might be easier to diagnose.

@sunrat
Curious, what is the output of
apt update; apt upgrade
What version of nvidia are you running ?
-
Sorry devil, posted basically same time ;)

Thanks guys. It was the problem with libegl1-glvnd-nvidia, libgl1-glvnd-nvidia-glx as documented here:
https://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=6843.0
Removing those 2 packages also removed kinfocenter, mpv, nvidia-driver and smplayer so I did d-u after that and reinstalled those. All fixed! 8)
