Hello,

There is a new batch of updates in kdenext/kde-frameworks. Installation intructions are available here:
https://community.kde.org/Plasma/InstallingNext#siduction

The software updated in kdenext/kde-frameworks is the following:
Qt libraries: 5.4.1
KDE Frameworks: 5.8.0
Plasma: 5.2.2
KDE Applications: 14.12.3

There are some issues already reported in the previous thread:
http://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=5354.msg43745#msg43745
I think I have a solution for this one
http://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=5354.msg43785#msg43785
but I need time to deploy such solution.

Cheers.

I hosed my KF5 install yesterday and have found no way to recover so far. There was a whole lot of qt5 stuff in there, but unfortunately I had not upgreaded in for 2-3 weeks. So I have to work my way through a lot of upgraded packages.

On the chance that someone else ran into this, here is what happens.
After a reboot following the upgrade, I can login but get to a desktop that only shows the desktop with the wallpaper and a terminal without borders (see attached picture) in the upper left corner. I have never seen anything the like. The terminal works as far as upgrades go, I did one today hoping it would fix the issue.

Trying to start any software from this terminal results in the software either not starting or being unusable (as in everything being greyed out or similar states of unusefullness) I have tried to remove .kde and add 'recommends' to apt to no avail.

A look at my home directory shows everything is ok as far as ownership goes  and the partition has sufficient space.

It doesn't happen here.

What login manager are you using? lightdm? could you attach your .xsession-errors file?

I have a "december" installation that I previously upgraded to Plasma 5.  I had not run a d-u on it for some weeks (maybe 6).  The last kernel version was 3.19-0.towo.2, if that sets a timeframe for the last d-u.

Today I ran d-u on it.  Here is the list:

Hello again,

KDE Frameworks was updated to 5.9.0, also the rest of the packages were rebuilt in order to deploy a change in packaging which solves at least the following issues:
- khelpcenter is able to display the documentation
- you can change the desktop wallpaper without problems (http://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=5354.msg43785#msg43785)
- the GHNS (Get Hot New Stuff) (see http://newstuff.kde.org/) used, for instance, to download new wallpapers works again

Also, with other solution, the problem with yakuake mentioned here is solved:

I ran d-u again today -- it all looks good.  krunner works as expected to launch apps.  Have not yet tried to change wallpaper -- maybe tomorrow.

Thanks Santa!

Hi,

to make it short : I upgraded my system , and it works. But I don't like what I see  :-[
How can I go back to the previous version ?
Just simply remove the additional repository from the sources list and d-u again ?

Tks

To make a long story short, there  is no going back, and this is  not what you want to hear

reinstall

Next time never install something like this on a production machine, use a spare computer or test it on vbox, etc ...

Yes, I had to be blunt ;)
Free speech isn't just fucking saying what you want to say, it's also hearing what you don't want to fucking hear

I either give too many fucks or no fucks at all, it's like I cannot find a middle ground for a moderate fuck distribution, it's like what the fuck
