Test ... While both screens work, I'd have to decrease the purple on the right monitor so it matches the blue on the left monitor, or something to make them meld better. Creto's sedutor.jpg is a great looking wallpaper though.

I have a quick and easy script for the paste.
All you need is imagamagik installed.
#!/bin/bash
#paste your screenshots to siduction pastbin in.
#weechat usage: /shell -o scriptname imagename
import $1 ; siduction-paste $1

se7en, mixed up siduction.de and siduction.org? I'm at siduction.org .. (there seems to be a problem with different domain names here; no idea if that's true)
But try this one: http://daemon.crashmail.de/~stell/2012-05-11-201432_1680x1050_scrot.png

Siduction Desperado is the first operating system that I didn't immediately change the wallpaper. Also, now that I made a new "spaghetti western" start-up and shutdown sound I couldn't be happier.
What a nice job the Siduction team has done.

Yep -- I found the themes from "The Magnificent 7" and also the old TV show "The Virginian" on youtube and had some fun with ffmpeg and audacity to come up with Desperado KDE startup tracks. 8)

Very nicely done towo! Will an official release announcement be available?
Thanks.

I used a shotgun/pistol blast for the shutdown sound and had just installed pulseaudio, when I shut down the wife about went in her pants. Volume was wide open, it was funny.

-
@hendrikL, yes Xfce has one of the most effektive Windowmanagers:
Even using shadows and other composite features it is far less cpu-time comsuming than kwin. But you might miss some of the extra features kwin delivers ...
openbox triggers xorgs X server much too often, they should adapt its code base to a more recent version of xorg! This causes xfce4 to be more efficient for old computers than even razorqt.
-
yes Xfce has one of the most effektive Windowmanagers:
I totally agree..
openbox triggers xorgs X server much too often,
hmmm... never was aware of that. As of late (6 mos) I have been doing quite a lot with OpenBox and the low mem useage 135 mb probably more then makes up for that nuance.

@piper Yours is anything but boring. I use the stock wallpaper & KDE setup ... that's boring. Wait ... no it isn't. Our Art team does a great job, it's probably why I'm not tired of the default.
Edit: Phew, almost got into trouble there. ;)

Here is my boring desktop which I use since ... sidux-whatever. And it's not the wallpaper, it's my desktop, i.e the unscaled wallpaper on black background! But the WP is not my design.

Hi,
tried "PortalView Live Desktop Wallpaper" which is offered at the downloadable system background images.
It has an easy to adjust python script where one can choose a livecam and set a refresh rate.
One have to change "username" in the script to it's own username and create a folder to use. Default is "Pictures", but it also has to be created.
I set an own foldername and there is stored just a single image which gets overwritten ev'ry 5 minutes by the new available image.
There are multible instances possible, I use two for my two monitors with two different foldernames and two scripts.
One shows http://www.opentopia.com/images/cams/world_sunlight_map_rectangular.jpg (http://www.opentopia.com/images/cams/world_sunlight_map_rectangular.jpg) the other one a nearby webcam pointing to a storks nest.
I start it in kde autostart with an also in the package delivered script. The short startscript has to be adjusted to the username and folders the name of the python scripts, too.
This is my start script:
#!/bin/bash
python /home/cal/Downloads/live_wallpaper/getpic.py & python /home/cal/Downloads/live_wallpaper/getbild.py
After that a right-click to the desktop, choose folder settings and there "Diaschau" which should, on an english environment, be "slide show". Adjust according to your choosen refreshrate, choose your folder where your images get stored and have fun.

I recently booted an older virtual machine with "Siduction 2011.1 One Step Beyond" and was nearly knocked by our wallpaper then. Didn't remember how sharp and crisp the siduction logo and lettering looked.
Then I played around with some "flat" themes, one called HexLite and one WinEight, just to annoy a windows-junkie here. Not really my style in other respects, but looks, hm, interesting ;). Perhaps I try that for a while :

Thought I would take a moment and share my completed Siduction xorg fluxbox DE. Flux and openbox are my favorite, however Siduction offers the most cutting edge of any Sid distro, also use LXDE. I added an editable menu from Fluxbox.org and modified the ~/fluxbox/overlay and ~/.fluxbox/startup to compile a very workable DE. Not very good at this desktop thing but I hope what I am attempting to do with works. http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-01182015-100700pm.php (http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-01182015-100700pm.php)

Thanks you guys. I haven't run LXDE in a loooong time...I'm really enjoying it!

I do like the coloration and the siduction logo goes very well. Welcome to Siduction. I been using the fluxbox xorg but also going to do a LXDE install to make an openbox wm. You are using probably the very best cutting edge distro that Linux has to offer. Siduction has a lot to offer, and one of the best forums and folks to help you. -zephyr.
-
You are using probably the very best cutting edge distro that Linux has to offer.
I think you're right. I've been running CrunchBang since Statler was new, and now that CrunchBang is discontinued, Siduction LXDE is my new openbox. I've had a good experience with this LXDE install so far. I recently created a Siduction dual-boot. Now I have LXDE and Xfce. There are a few new things to learn going from stable to sid (and systemd), but I really haven't encountered anything too problematic that I can't handle.
Here's my Xfce.

@Millie: That is awesome, something that I never tried to do. But, It does really look cool instead of the lxde panel. The desktop layout, conky, color scheme is excellent. I mess with my distro's constantly, not always with good results. Tint2 has a lot of tweaks and capabilities that I appreciate, it appears that you have a good handle on that. Thank you-zephyr
-
@Tuxic: I hope this works for you. Happy to share these items. If I can also be of any more of help, please let me know. On the Crunchbang forum, SpaceX had a nice set of themes for Waldorf via a link. Happy Crunching. I have other items, like menu, although much extended for Crunchbang if you are interested. -zephyr

Nice! But I'm worried about the future of LXDE and Openbox...
-
Hi tuxic.
I did see on the release page for 2014.1 where it said "LXDE will be developed as long as GTK+ 2 stays usable." I'll run it until that day comes. I've also got Siduction Xfce, so I'm covered if they decide to abandon LXDE next time around.
I redid my Xfce desktop as well. I F'd-up something on it last week, and had to reinstall. I decided to put it on a different computer rather than dual-boot with my LXDE again.
(http://thumbnails110.imagebam.com/39578/4529bf395779254.jpg) (http://www.imagebam.com/image/4529bf395779254)
-
@tuxic: I hope you enjoy this conky, it has a few updates I mentioned earlier. Let me know if you have any questions. thanks-zephyr
-
@ Millie & tuxic: I too appreciate xfce, as well as lxde. Xfce does have a bit more tweak-able attributes, and similar in appearance. I use fluxbox and openbox primarily, but the future of lxde and xfce does look good, and believe that a new xfce is on it's way. I choose simplicity over the "busy" appearance and behavior of KDE, or Gnome. The more something looks and behaves like Windows, the quicker I get rid of it. I choose openbox or fluxbox for mostly one reason, that is building my own menu, design it do and function toward my needs. Simple, fast, and light on resources. Tint2 is awesome, as with many of the lxde apps that are shared between lxde and openbox. Siduction has really come out ahead with a great line of DE's, my particular favorite is Xorg fluxbox, just raw enough to work and build, a custom distro. Millie, your art work is super, I try to be creative, but clutter is like driving with billboards, or marquee's, and I'm bad about it. - zephyr
-
Well, I'm back to minimal on my LXDE. I made this wallpaper this weekend. Tint2 and two hidden lxpanels with launchers and clock. I'm not sure if I'm going to build a conky for it yet. I kinda like the "plain" look.
(http://thumbnails110.imagebam.com/39902/e67597399012082.jpg) (http://www.imagebam.com/image/e67597399012082)
-
I like to have a clean desktop, I also like to see my wife so she is in my wallpaper :)
-
@tuxic: don't worry - LXDE will die somewhen, but not now and not tomorrow. The project will live as long there are developers interested in. And right now Andrej and crew have released the best LXDE ever. Regarding GTK2 - ok, it will die somewhen, but the most components of LXDE can be compiled with GTK3 libs right now. So let us talk about the eol of LXDE if it is really over. Maybe in a few years or so ...

Ah, got me! However, that is someone playing around with the script. I prefer to stick with Teo's scripts. That way, I don't have to fiddle with things when he updates the scripts.
Also, I don't follow that thread all the time. Those guys (Teo and Sector11) are constantly posting in that thread. I only check in there once-in-awhile and do not post in the thread that often.

Hey gents! Guten tag!
I was an aptosid user and forum member back in the day, hhh. I went on to help with BunsenLabs.
I've been using a minimal plasma-workspace session on top of a BunsenLabs Openbox default install upgraded to sid, and also one upgraded to testing with most of the BunsenLabs configs removed. Anyway, the result is remarkably light and I thought I'd share.

I think the latest Plasma is fantastic. I'm looking forward to using it with siduction! Cheers.

I switched sources from sid to buster before the weekend, ahead of the transition freeze. A couple of glitches (graphics and a desktop crash) but weekend upgrades and a reboot seems to have sorted things...

To the siduction forum, and especially @devil for his support posts (and @towo for his work), thank you for your help! See y'all in a couple of years.
More scrots, this should not be a dead thread! Scrots get people interested in trying new things.
-edit- I forgot that the forum is primarily Deutsche and that the other scrot thread exists and is active. Carry on!

Not something I would consider but good that it worked for you. I'm considering installing Buster in ~6 months after it goes stable. I would keep a siduction install of course! I have a Stretch install with Plasma 5.12 from Neptune OS as a fallback now. Plasma has improved markedly since the Stretch default version but I could probably live with the Buster version.

We non-German natives who use siduction are still alive and well! 8)
I like your desktop photo, and have also move my panel to vertical. Makes more sense on a wide screen.

Hello, you two!
yours screenshots look wonderful. I love that when the users show their desktops. ;)
@3h
Thank you very much for your praise. This distibution is really the best if you want to have a real rolling release and you always consider the hints of those responsible.
I have therefore never experienced a bankruptcy.
Unfortunately, for years there have been no people like @damo, @bronto etc. from your forum who can easily create graphical elements in your distribution, which is an absolute pep. 8) ???

Thanks for the posts and responses!
@sunrat, beautiful scrot. Plasma has blown GNOME out of the water, just on RAM usage alone, and then there's the customization factor and not having to deal with https://extensions.gnome.org/ (https://extensions.gnome.org/)
I flipping love KDE Connect!
@unklarer, damo has returned to our forums after a long health issue! BrontosaurusRex is still active daily there, too.
BL serves it's purpose, a debian stable LIVE disc with a fairly minimal Openbox/xfce4-power-manager based desktop that installs easily on most hardware due to the inclusion of non-free firmware and whatnot. We're getting better, and are excited that the freeze has come and we can do some real development-testing on our next release, Lithium, based on buster.
That scrot, my primary partition, is BunsenLabs Helium (jessie) upgraded to debian sid, then downgraded (sort of?) to buster. I run Plasma but have BunsenLabs Openbox and Xfce sessions as well. Those available sessions have saved my behind a couple of times during the recent sid KDE upgrades. Debian 4EVAH, One apt To Rule Them All.

New year, new wallpaper. I confess I changed it one other time during the year. I'm a bit surprised how little anything else has changed on my desktop.
