[EN] testkernel 3.6-rc7 available [closed]
« on: 2012/09/12, 22:33:01 »
For the users, with no fear for experiments i have uploaded kernel 3.6-rc5 to our experimental repo.
There are no metapackages, installing per packagename only, like
Code: [Select]

apt-get install linux-image-3.6-rc5.towo.1-siduction-amd64 linux-headers-3.6-rc5.towo.1-siduction-amd64

given, you have our experimntal-repo in your sources.

im Gegensatz zum neusten siduction 3.5 Kernel sind wohl keine lirc-serial module dabei?
werden zumindest nicht geladen, und meine Fernbedienung will nicht.

My remotecontrol needs up to now lirc-serial. I can't find this.

with "locate lirc|grep ko|grep 3.6-rc6"
I get :
Code: [Select]

/lib/modules/3.6-rc6.towo.1-siduction-amd64/kernel/drivers/media/rc/ir-lirc-codec.ko
/lib/modules/3.6-rc6.towo.1-siduction-amd64/kernel/drivers/media/rc/lirc_dev.ko
/lib/modules/3.6-rc6.towo.1-siduction-amd64/kernel/drivers/media/rc/keymaps/rc-lirc.ko

should this replace lirc_serial ? If yes, did you have a link where is explained to change hardware.conf and lirc.conf?

@towo, here is a minor issue with the 3.6 kernels -- no support for my old Logitech webcam.

With the last 3.5 kernel:
Code: [Select]
don@imerabox:/dev$ lsusb | grep Logitech
Bus 010 Device 002: ID 046d:08d7 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate STX
don@imerabox:/dev$ uname -a
Linux imerabox 3.5-4.towo-siduction-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Sep 15 16:05:46 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux
don@imerabox:/dev$ lsusb | grep Logitech
Bus 010 Device 002: ID 046d:08d7 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate STX
don@imerabox:/dev$ lsmod | grep gspca
gspca_zc3xx            34906  0
gspca_main             17004  1 gspca_zc3xx
videodev               81181  2 gspca_main,gspca_zc3xx
usbcore               121584  10 uas,uhci_hcd,snd_usb_audio,usb_storage,snd_usbmidi_lib,ehci_hcd,gspca_main,usbhid,gspca_zc3xx,xhci_hcd

But, with the 3.6 rc kernels:

Code: [Select]
don@imerabox:~$ uname -a
Linux imerabox 3.6-rc6.towo.1-siduction-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Sep 18 16:29:39 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux
don@imerabox:~$ lsusb | grep Logitech
Bus 010 Device 002: ID 046d:08d7 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate STX
don@imerabox:~$ lsmod | grep gspca
don@imerabox:~$

And there is no video device in /dev.

The microphone works great, btw.
