Title: Cinnamon desktop hangs when clicking on "Menu"

Hi,
I installed Cinnamon from Siduction/Debian repositories. My original desktop is Xfce. When I click on "Menu" the menu appears but immediately it hangs and the only way to make my computer to work again is to press the physical shutdown button.

Any idea about the cause and/or how to solve it? I tried to find information about Cinnamon in this forum but I had no luck.

Provide relevant infos!

inxi -v3
dmesg | egrep -i "fail|error|warn"
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Hello luispa,

yes, i can confirm the bug.

Cinnamon 1.7 from debian unstable repo is utterly broken and its maintainer has abandoned his tries.
But he got helpers now, and they are preparing cinnamon 2.2 which is in debian experimental.

and we will do nothing about it - this bug is the reason why we dont have a cinnamon flavor
look at debian pts or bts cinnamon and rc-bugs. This f***ing package is buggy as hell since ages and not maintained. Waiting until cinnamon 2.x leave experimental is a good choice - or using the experimental packges directly.

I am using cinnamon2, the packages are from the second to last comment from this side:
