OK, unter /etc/imagescan sollte die Datei "imagesacan.conf" angelegt worden sein.
Unter /etc/sane.d/dll.d sollte die Datei imagescan angelegt sein.

Falls das so ist rufe nochmal als root im Terminal xsane auf
slackware => SuSE => kanotix => sidux => aptosid  => siduction

Komisch als root hatte er den Scanner mit "sane-find-scanner" eigentlich entdeckt.
Versuch mal als root" scanimage -L" was das sagt.
slackware => SuSE => kanotix => sidux => aptosid  => siduction

scanimage -L  -- steht doch in Deinem Paste - nü, dann sollte man das auch mal ausführen und uns das Ergebnis mitteilen

Gib im Terminal mal su statt sudo ein und melde dich vorübergehend komplett in dem Terminal mit root an.
Anschliesend "scanimage -L"

Mich stört etwas diese seltsame sudo-Fehlermeldung.

oder was vernünftiges kaufen, Windows benutzen oder https://github.com/utsushi/utsushi zum laufen bekommen  - die wissen wohl, wovon sie schreiben und es ist GPL 3.

utsushi ist eigentlich imagescan bzw. imagescan ein Link darauf.

Die sudo Fehlermeldung dürfte kommen, weil auf der anderen Partition Mageia installiert ist mit gleicherm Usernamen und gleichen Passwort. Ich geh davon aus, das bei Mageia das ganze unter einer anderen UID läuft und deswegen der Hinweis kommt da bei beiden auf dasselbe /home zugegriffen wird.


Auf der Konsole mit root gibt scanimage -L die gleiche Fehlermeldung aus.


Utsushi habe ich hier mal probiert, aber bei der Installation gibt es eine Fehlermeldung ganz am Ende obwohl libbz2 installiert ist:

xsane funzt hier grundsätzlich. Zumindest mit meinem alten Brother DCP-145 aber da bei dem der Druckkopf für schwarz hinüber ist, so wechselte ich auf Epson

Hmm, da gehen mir die Ideen langsam aus.
Als root mit sane-find-scanner wurde er ja erkannt.

Dumme Frage: wurde udev mal neu gestartet bzw hast du zwischenzeitlich nen Neustart gemacht?
Da wurde auch noch ne udev-Regel erstellt, vielleicht ist die noch nicht wirksam.

Und als letztes vielleicht mal imagescan als letzte Zeile in die /etc/sane.d/dll.conf eintragen und nochmal testen.

Ansonsten vuescan.

@ReinerS -  utsushi und das ist schon das richtige Backend - und das sollte™ in libsane-common drin sein. Sagt zumindest ein grep über den Quelltext

Neustarts machte ich mittlerweile sicher ein halbes Dutzend.

Ich werd mich wohl langsam auch mit vuescan anfreunden.

Hmm, gerade gesehen dass der eventuell Dateien nach /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu packen will.
Diese Verzeichnisse gibts aber bei siduction nicht. Ich suche mal ob die woanders angelegt wurden.
