Perl-Transition
« on: 2015/12/17, 09:11:23 »
Moin Moin,

offensichtlich wegen der Perl-Transition soll bei mir gefühlt das halbe System deinstalliert werden.
Also: Augen auf beim dist-upgrade!

It seems that the Perl-Transition will deinstall my half system.
So, be carefull when dist-upgrade!

Code: [Select]

A quick jump from 20 packages to 260 to remove!

Code: [Select]
771 upgraded, 25 newly installed, 260 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 111 MB/1,131 MB of archives.
After this operation, 590 MB disk space will be freed.

Perl Transition seems to be complete.

Last DU removed 2 but  replaced them with new files and updated the rest, including a new pepperflashplugin.

Code: [Select]
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libperl5.20 perl-modules
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libperl5.22 perl-modules-5.22

The transition tracker is showing 93% complete, however this morning (U.S. Eastern) a clean d-u is possible, with libperl5.20 and perl-modules removed and replaced, as well as many package updates -- 75 in my case.

Debian bug # 808390 for perl-base with one comment got a critical tag an hour or two prior to me waking up.  apt-cache showpkg of perl-base and more importantly perl5-base with only 2 reverse dependencies on perl5-base probably won't affect most of us.  Of course if you are running geneweb or ippl - it might.

if your are very sure that you know exactly what you do - yes. Ohterwise a clear no.

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:

I would like to suggest a manual remove, single packages and step by step - and reading the apt output. One may be surprised 8)

Thank you for the reply and suggestion, melmarker.

Edit:  Purging one-by-one went without a hitch.
