Title: KDE SC 4.9 packages coming into QT KDE repo
Post by: DeepDayze on 2013/01/25, 01:34:42
Just a headsup, looks like KDE SC 4.9 packages are coming into the Debian Qt/KDE experimental repo. Noticed them in my d-u as I had experimental-snapshots repo active in my sources.list.d

Has anyone tried these yet? If so any feedback?

All is fine. We will add the packages to our kde-next repository.

Now the moment when kde-4.10 upstream release is a minute away? Someone said digikam-3.0 will depend on kde-4.10.

The good news is: kde-4.9.5 is matured very stable in contrary of the coming kde-4.10.null ...

Sounds great, devil...finally some movement on the KDE front in Debian :)

Thanks ralul for that update...maybe we should wait for 4.10?

No,
- kde-4.9.5 is matured,
- kde-4.10.null is not and would be our own lot of work ....

devil says anyone who uses nepomuk will have to reinstall the nepomuk-core-runtime package.

I must have committed some sins in an earlier life -- I still am not finding the new KDE packages when I run d-u against the qt-kde experimental-snapshots repo.  They haven't changed the repo structure, have they?

no, but maybe you need -t experimental-snapshots with it.
and make sure you do not use qt-kde2, it is offline

I have this one under /etc/apt/sources.list.d/qt-kde.list:

Code: [Select]

As of now, d-u sees nothing to update.  :(

Hi Dibl:

I have the same:
deb http://qt-kde.debian.net/debian experimental-snapshots main
deb-src http://qt-kde.debian.net/debian experimental-snapshots main

Intsall Keyring with: apt-get install pkg-kde-archive-keyring

Quote

root@Siduction:~# apt-cache policy kdm

kdm:
  Installiert:           4:4.8.4-5
  Installationskandidat: 4:4.8.4-6

  Versionstabelle:
    4:4.9.5-0r2 0
        100 http://qt-kde.debian.net/debian/ experimental-snapshots/main amd64 Packages
     4:4.8.4-6 0
        500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ unstable/main amd64 Packages
 *** 4:4.8.4-5 0
        500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ testing/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

So, maybe you don't have the right keyring?

BTW: Devil mentiond transferring everything to KDE-Next

Quote

But right now, The repo is not active.

so, it's like devil said, you need tu upgrade KDE manually.
Everything in experimental repos ist not upgraded automatically, this would destroy any rtunning system.

Try:
apt-cache policy kde-window-manager

and then:
apt-get install kde-window-manager kmix nepomuk-core-runtime

Yes, I also had the "too tired" problem yesterday.  This worked:

Code: [Select]
apt-get install -t experimental-snapshots kde-window-manager

That pulled in all of KDE 4.9.5. Changing my wallpapers now ....    8)

Thanks Lanzi.

And next will change to the new siduction kdenext repo.

Didn't go too well for me. :-(

I lost all my activities and widgets, Also unlocking widgets or activities just leaves a blank bar part way across the bottom of the screen.

A red square with a white cross in it sitting on the panel suggests something has gone horribly wrong.

I'll try removing the kde config files and restarting kde and see what happens.

packages.siduction.org is fixed too.

@clubex: some packages are not available in kdenext atm. And there will be some bugs too. (ok, thats why kdenext is a sync from experimental-snapshots) This means in other words, in this shape is kdenext far from production ready or complete. But most of the parts work ok. Welcome to the bleeding edge part of siduction :)

This morning's boot has the pager (desktop switcher) marked as unknown widget. On re-installing the pager it works fine. Reboot and it's again marked as unknown widget.

I would have thought a pager to be essential unless it's been replaced by a some other widget/method.

Anyone else experienced this problem or know of an alternative pager?.

To answer myself:
Settings -> Workspace Appearance and Behaviour -> Workspace Behaviour -> Switching. Check Desktop Switch On-Screen Display.

This brings up a display showing which desktop is being displayed and which one it moved from. For me it's not as good an indicator of which virtual desktop I'm on but it's better than nothing.

Well, I am not totally sure yet but since yesterdays d-u, which brought kde 4.9.x onto my TV-Box, kaffeine is dying after some time when recording to disk.
Its not related to an specific kernel and so I suspect the kde 4.9 update :?

Will look further into that.
