Removing xulrunner?

I've been reading the thread on the German side of the forum:

I've been wanting to ask about xulrunner since I noticed that it wasn't present on my openSUSE installs, and also noticed that the versions haven't been updating when installing iceweasel from experimental in siduction.

Since xulrunner isn't a dependency for iceweasel anymore, is it safe to remove it?  Does anyone know of a reason why it shouldn't be removed?

As iceweasel is (as its changelog states) not a xulrunner application and neither ubuntu nor suse have it, I removed xulrunner completely from siduction some days ago and have absolutely no issues with iceweasel and icedove. *Works for me*

Actually, it hasn't  *really been needed* since firefox 4, ubuntu got rid of it in 2011 (Fri May 20), back then a interesting page to watch was another ubuntu thingie called - desktop-o-mozilla-rapid-release-maintenance blueprint just for changes etc.

I run firefox 36 (nightly) and can't remember the last time it was installed or needed

Having removed earlier versions, I only had xulrunner-29 left, so, removed that also.  Thanks for the comments/advice.
