Ich hab nochmal die Ereignisse der letzten Tage bei der Entscheidung für ein neues Init-System zusammengefasst:

Just for fun - at aptosid:

Frankly, I would be more concerned about a release done today with another init system than Debian sid has. I would be bloody scared if such a release would include a stanza like "we will keep this init system, even if Debian chooses another". I prefer people who don't say batshit crazy things even if they do a release only once in a while.
Though he disclaimed this a prediction in any way. No bad blood, remember him maintaining apt very well for us all!

And I must admit one year ago I predicted Ubuntu to switch to systemd for their longterm 2014. But unfortuanately Shuttleworth is not best in acquiring technical expertise from his crew, he had to wait Debian doing this evaluation ...

PS: Tschuldigung Englisch hier :(

Well, DonKult does not know that batshit crazy is our  secret mantra.

And what would the alternative have been, if Debian would have gone batshit crazy and choose upstart over systemd? I would not want to offer our users a system that mandates developers to sign a proprietary license agreement (Ubuntu CLA) to submit a patch. SysVinit would probably suffer from bitrot in the not to far future in that case.

In such a case I would prefer us to build systemd from upsream sources and be in the company of all big distributors other than debian and ubuntu. But we placed our bet on the right horse and will stay batshit crazy for the forseeable future. :)

... batshit crazy is our  secret mantra.
Now confirms the previously suspected reason I like siduction.  ;)

This reminds me of an American expression:

"Crazy like a fox!"

auf deutsch:

"Verrückte wie ein Fuchs!"
