Firestarter Firewall Missing [resolved]
« on: 2014/03/18, 04:11:40 »
Hi,

I was wondering why the Firestart Firewall is missing from the Siduction repos, and if there is anyway it could be added.  It seems to be available in debian, but I cannot install it.

Thank you,

Why can't you install it? Please show the relevant output that apt gives you. About adding firestarter: We cannot add the whole plethora of apps available in debian. so please bare with us, if we include things that many users ask for. A gui for iptables is not one of them.

The package is just missing.
Code: [Select]
$ apt-get install firestarter
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package firestarter

As for adding this in.  I completely understand that it takes work to add a package, but maybe you could add at least one graphical front-end for iptables?  Pretty please?

As a workaround, is there any way to easily cherry pick a package that is available in Debian?

Firestarter is not in Testing or Unstable anymore, that's why you cannot install it. Reason is it is abandoned upstream. You might want to choose one of these.
