Hello userzero,
/var/lib/dpkg/info/paintitblack-xfce-settings.postinst: dconf: not found

This is not a known problem. I will try to reproduce this error message.
Which iso-image did you use to install? Please run "inxi -xS".
Did you append the "md5sum" parameter to check the install media?

Make sure dconf-tools (which depends on dconf-cli, dconf-editor) is installed.

A little remark on aptitude:
  • We do recommend apt(-get) dist-upgrade, so there is almost no experience with aptitude in current state of the repo.
  • We only recommend (safe-)upgrade when dist-upgrade would remove too many packages (i.e. during transitions).

I've booted a recent build from 2016/07/22 and I was able to install paintitblack-xfce-settings 2016.08.03 (in live mode).

Is dconf-tools installed?
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep dconf

we should add dconf-cli to the settings packages - until now it is only a dependency of paintitblack-common-settings (hmm - should be sufficient, but hey ...)
