Hi,
My Dell Inspiron laptop has a Realtek sdhc card reader (7 in 1) that does not work with Siduction Indian Summer amd64, KDE.
Module rtsx_usb is required but is not present in the 3.18-3 towo kernel. I've installed an alternative kernel: 3.17-7.dmz.2-liquorix-amd64 and that allows the card reader to work OK.
Can this module be enabled in future releases?
Thanks.
Graham

Should be fixed in the last kernel.

Hi,
Many thanks, towo. using apt-get dist-upgrade brought in kernel "3.18-5.towo.2-siduction-amd64" which does indeed support this reader.
I'd been using smxi to upgrade and it doesn't show your siduction kernels as available.
Regards,
Graham

Hi Graham, and welcome to the forum!
smxi is a third-party script and may or may not fully support your system (I think you already found out about that). You will rarely need anything beyond apt to upgrade your siduction system. There's a paragraph or two in the manual on this topic, that you really should review.
With your sources set correctly, all you should need to do is
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
apt-get clean
and occasionally, if you are prompted,
apt-get autoremove
Also, keep an eye on the Upgrade Warnings forum when large transitions in Debian can cause some excitement. ;D
