Ah, mittelneu also ( 1-2 Jahre? Weniger oder mehr?. Mir scheint 6 Jahre nicht neu, aber auch nicht wirklich alt).
Je länger ich über dem Treiber Problem brüte, je weniger blicke ich durch.
Mit 2 Pentium3, 2 Pentium 4, 1 Aldi Laptop mit 64 RAM, einem 4 Jahre altem PC, einem PPC und einem halbjahr-altem Laptop von Lenovo hatte ich, von dem Lenovo mal abgesehen, nie Probleme.
Oder vieleicht habe ich sie, bemerke sie aber nicht.
Auf einem der Pentium 3's is Nvidia, und das Modul lies sich nicht bauen (ist aber Wurtscht, da für X eh ein wenig langsam).

Mir sieht das nicht nach fehlenden Treibern aus, und im Grossen und Ganzen läuft er auch gut. X läuft prima, mit compiz, Sound ... mhhh... was will man noch? Oh: wireless: yup. Gestern habe ich festgestellt, dass CD's Brennen mit dem Sony Laufwerk nicht geht (brauch ich eigentlich auch nicht, gestern aber schon, um besagte ultimate boot-cd zu brennen).
P3 ist natürlich schon Hardcore, aber mit bisschn Geduld gehts auch (und ohne X sowieso).
Ich sehe nicht so wirklich ein, wieso man alles wegschmeissen muss (In alte Ware investieren lohnt sich oft nicht, aber das in Frage stehende Laptop scheint, zumindest mir, recht solide und leistungsstark).
Wenn sich wirklich alle Computerfähigen Menschen alle, ich sach ma', 3 Jahre eine neue Maschine zulegen, da kommt was zusammen, im Laufe der Jahre. Also an Müll.
PS: Ja, schon eher Bastelprojekt. So Richtung "proof of concept".
